Hotel Dusk is a gripping and immersive mystery game with a film-noir theme to it. It is unique in it’s combination of art styles and provides a wonderful and different gameplay experience.

The characters are by far my personal favourite feature of this game. They all seem to have far-fetched ties to one-another and are all majorly flawed with darker histories that can only be found in a mystery game. However I found them to be some of the most believable characters I have ever seen in a game and would put this on par with reading a book based on time-played and storyline.

When I reach the end of a series, a book, or a game I always seem to ask myself “Was it really worth that ending?” and I have to admit that mostly the answers are “no”, “yes”, and “I don’t know I don’t play games much”. This game, in my honest opinion, was worth every moment of my time, even though it had very little closure.
This is one of those rare games that has shotty modelling, pixelly environments, and so much text to read it may as well have been a book. But I think that’s what makes it so good.

Weaknesses.. Weaknesses.. Well the DS battery kept going critical.. Does that count?
Seriously I feel that this game is a classic, and although it’s not perfect, it’s well made. However I don’t know if I want to play the sequel when it comes out.
Handhelds are marvellous, and for me, provide a more fun and story-rich gameplay environment. I think there are too many shooters on consoles these days, and what other stuff there actually is, is too complex to be immersive.
Any good games out there you think I should play?
